Maksym Serbyn
Maksym started his faculty appointment at IST in July 2017. He is interested in better theoretical understanding non-equilibrium properties of quantum systems using variety of analytical and numerical approaches.

Marko Ljubotina
Marko arrived to IST in September of 2020 after completing his PhD at the University of Ljubljana. He is mainly interested in non-equilibrium quantum dynamics, quantum transport and control.

Pietro Brighi
Pietro has joined the group in summer 2019. He is working on understanding the properties of many-body localized systems.

Raimel joined the group as a PhD student in 2019. He is working on understanding the clustering phase of glasses in a quantum regime.

Our Alumni

Alexios Michailidis
Alex arrived to IST in December of 2017 after a short postdoctoral appointment at University of Leeds. He is mainly interested in ergodicity breaking non-equilibrium quantum dynamics. He applies a variety of numerical and analytical tools to study dynamical properties of many-body localized systems, models with a large mismatch of dynamical timescales, and kinematically constrained models.

Kristina Kirova
Kristina was a summer intern at IST in Summer of 2021 while being enrolled in a MSc program at ETH Zurich. At IST she worked on extracting highly excited eigenstates of MBL system, resulting in a preprint 55 from Publications.

Tobias Gulden
Tobias joined IST Austria as an ISTPlus fellow in the summer of 2019. He is interested in dynamical systems, focusing on methods to prepare states with high fidelity and studying the properties of prethermal states. In the past he also worked on topological insulators, and in his PhD thesis he invented a method for semiclassical calculations for non-Hermitian Hamiltonians.

Stefano De Nicola
Stefano joined as as an ISTPlus postdoctoral fellow in February of 2019 after he got his PhD from King’s College London in 2018. He is interested in novel approaches to describe quantum dynamics and dynamical phases of matter.

Anna Goremykina
Anna is visiting IST from University of Geneva where she is pursuing her PhD degree. Anna is interested in non-equilibrium properties of low dimensional quantum systems. During her visit Anna is working on the dynamical responses of many-body localized phase and properties of many-body delocalization transition. Some results of this work are summarized in recent preprints, see Refs. [33]-[34] from Publications and in the PhD thesis.

Peter Gerlagh
Peter is an intern at IST from November 2018. He is working on understanding the optimal control of quantum systems using Floquet approach.

Peng Rao
Rao was an intern at IST from October 2017 – July 2018. At IST Rao was working on the physics of trilayer graphene. The results of his work are published in Ref. [29,39] from Publication list.

Margarita Davydova
Margarita spent two months in summer of 2017 as an intern at IST Austria. Her main scientific interests are in the field of magnetic properties and spin dynamics in multiferroics. At IST Margarita was working on understanding non-linear optical responses of solids.

Ziruo Zhang
Ziruo spent two months in summer of 2017 as an intern at IST Austria. His main interests are in the field of theoretical physics. At IST Ziruo was investigating properties of matrix elements in the many-body localized phase.
